What is Biohacking?

"Biohacking is a crazy-sounding name for something not crazy at all—the desire to be the absolute best version of ourselves" - David Asprey

I am not going to dig very deep into each one of the biohacks, feel free to click on the links for more details

Move

(Oldest Biohack Ever)

Being active physically and mentally is the oldest recipe for longevity.

Challenge we all face - type, intensity and timing of the activity we should chose:
  • Endomorphs (slow metabolic type),  may benefit from cardio and weight-loss activity with short rests (30sec).
  • Ectomorphs (fast metabolic type),  will do better with maximal resistant training with longer rests (1-2 min) and cardio work at a minimum, so they can build more muscle mass.
  • Mesomorphs (the athletic ones with relatively efficient metabolism), need sport-specific training, often on high level and combined with competing.
Blood type  is also a good indication when choosing the right activity.

If you are:
  • Blood type A –  you may benefit  from something spiritual – Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates, isometric exercises and you may enjoy it more.

Intense exercise will increases your levels of the stress hormone cortisol and it will lead to muscle fatigue and stiffness. You do best by opting for calming activities that help you focus and protect your joints.

  • Blood type B – you’ll enjoy group cardio workouts,  that are slightly lower impact, like tennis or cycling, as well as resistance training .
  • Blood type AB – gentle exercise like walking, hiking, golf, or dance will be beneficial.

However, you also tend to internalize anger, so yoga and Tai Chi can be helpful for keeping your mood level, and your muscles and joints balanced and fluid.

  • Blood type  O – you will benefit more from high-intensity cardio or power yoga.

So, we need to do some  evaluation before choosing the right activity.

There is one rule that applies to everyone:

ROTATION (switching type, repetition, intensity) of the workout, so you will have constant progress without hitting a plateau, both mentally and physically

Sleep

(Everyone’s’ Favorite Biohack)

sleep better - Thrive
Sleep is the most important factor for recovery and your general well being.

If you do not have enough or good sleep, your circadian rhythm goes out of balance, meaning the work of every single organ of your body is distorted.

Overtime this will lead to serious health issues.

How to get a good sleep:

  • Sleep in complete darkness – get blackout curtains if necessary
  • Sleep in a cold room – 65-68F
  • Dimmer or change your light to red and spend at least 1 hr. without bright or blue light prior going to bed
  • Supplement, if necessary,  with magnesium (glycinate or l-threonate), melatonin, GABA, 5 HTP (together or separately  in rotation)

Sleep position

Researches shows that sleeping on your left side, with some tweaks, is best sleeping position.

It helps the body release toxins, flushes lymphatic system, help the organs relax, slow down aging.

Still, in order to relax, and align the lower back, hips and shoulders in proper position, you will need a good pillow to support your neck.

In addition, place a pillow between your legs too, for an additional hip support

Another tip for better alignment: Get regular body work

I always recommend The Joint Chiropractic for chiropractic alignment. They have over 700 locations nationwide, that are open 7 days a week. You get a monthly membership that allows you to get quick weekly adjustment. Doctors are awesome, best of all  – you don’t need an appointment!

For better sleep - eat your dinner for your age accordingly:

Age 30 – at least 3 hours before bed

Age 40 – at least 4 hours before bed

Age 50 and up – at least 5 hours before bed

Sleep tonics

  • Golden milk (turmeric based)
  • Moon milk (milk, cinnamon, honey)
  • Adaptogenic milk (ashwagandha, milk, nutmeg, cardamom, honey)
  • Chia drink (with or without milk)
  • Herbal Teas (valerian, lavender, lemon balm, passion flower, chamomile, catnip)
  • Tart cherry juice – high in  B6

Get a good mattress

Avoid Off-gassing toxins (chemicals that are often in memory foams, causing upper respiratory problems, including stuffed nose, dry mouth in the morning, snoring, sleep apnea, allergies, asthma, weak immunity)

Along with the low room temperature (65-68F),  you can get a cooling mattress, or a cooling pillow top for your existing mattress

Do some yoga and/or a deep stretch

Before bed (it will take away the physical tension and mental stress off your body)

Get a cool shower

Before bed will cool your body down, in the morning will energize you

Dry Brush

Do it before showering, it will remove the dead skin and help the lymphatic system to move smoothly

Oil Pulling & Tongue scraping

These 2 Ayurvedic practices will also help the lymphatic system to get better work flushing out toxins

Take daily power naps

Daily naps can improve alertness, reduce stress, boost immune response, also very efficient in recovery and one of my fav hacks.

All you need is 20-40 min and an alarm.

Make sure you don’t go more than 40 min, or you will get sleep inertia,  a headache and may end up even more tired.

Very popular among athletes or just early birds

Nature Reset (Forest Bathing)

As Earth's Climate Changes, Is It Time to Redefine the Four Seasons? | HowStuffWorks

Also called ECOTHERAPHY , a therapy that is used for treating Nature Deficit Disorder, which unfortunately is a very real  nowadays, especially in kids and teens!

Mapping the brain, its shown that same amount of oxytocin is released being in nature and hugging a loved one!

And it could be any experience outdoors –  a simple walk in the park, a hike,  a campfire,  growing a garden, get engaged  in conservation activities in your community or  on a global scale

Important benefit of getting out and in touch with nature is the gravity you can experience. That’s why being closer to ground level is healing and regenerates your cells. The opposite applies to be detached from ground level, like living on a penthouse, which can have  quite rapid aging effect on your body! Great examples  are NASA  astronauts.

Fasting

Intermittent Fasting — Integrated Eating

Fasting on nothing but water for three days and more can do wonders for your biology.

History shows, that Holocausts’ survivors are among rare centennials with  very minimal brain deterioration due to aging.

When you skip food, your body  gets rid of damaged white blood cells and turns on stem cell growth to replace your whole immune system with a brand new model.

Fasting for 72 hours was enough to negate the downsides of chemotherapy in cancer patients. The study also found that fasting inhibits PKA, an enzyme that may make you age faster.

With both Intermittent Water Fasting or the more extreme Dry Fast, please do the required preparation, be smart, never too aggressive.

Just take your time and enjoy the experience!

Breathwork

(Easiest Biohack)

Breathwork - You Can Yoga
Diaphragmatic Breathing in particular, has many benefits:
  • Immune boost
  • Brain function enhancement
  • Regulates Blood pressure
  • Improves your posture
  • Provides you with clean energy
  • Each breath you take is sending signals to every single organ to get moving.

And remember, diaphragmic breathing  is slow

It will calm you down, slow down the racing hearth and the mind, will balance you, and will  cools you off.

Breath of Fire, on the other hand, is fast paced. It will warm you up and raise your oxygen level quick. That may make you feel little dizzy at the beginning, but it will go away with practice.

Other Benefits of Breathing
  • Detoxifies Organs and Releases Toxins

Your body is designed to release 70% of its toxins through breathing. If you are not breathing effectively, you are not properly detox. It means, that other systems in your body must work overtime, which could eventually lead to illness. When you exhale air,  you release carbon dioxide that has been passed through from your bloodstream into your lungs. Carbon dioxide is a natural waste of your body’s metabolism.

  • Releases Tension

Think how your body feels when you are tense, angry, scared or stressed. It constricts you, your muscles get tight and your breathing becomes shallow. When your breathing is shallow you are not getting the amount of oxygen that your body needs.

  • Relaxes the Mind & Brings Clarity

Oxygenation of the brain is reducing excessive anxiety levels. Breathe slowly, deeply and purposefully into your body. Notice any places that are tight and breathe into them. As you relax your body, you may find that the breathing brings clarity and insights, as well.

  • Relieves Emotional Issues & Elevates Moods

Breathing increase pleasure-inducing neurochemicals in the brain to elevate moods and combat physical and emotional pain. Basically, all breathing techniques will help “flush” uneasy feelings out of your body, promoting adrenaline and endorphin production, also release of toxins fogging your brain.

  • Relieves Pain.

You may not realize its connection to how you think, feel and experience life. For example, what happens to your breathing when you anticipate pain? You probably hold your breath, and breathing into your pain helps to ease it.

  • Massages Your Organs

The same way yoga does with squeezing and twisting, movements of the diaphragm during the deep breathing massages the stomach, small intestine, liver and pancreas.

When you inhale air your, diaphragm descends and your abdomen expands. By this action you massage vital organs, and improve circulation in them. Controlled breathing also strengthens and tones your abdominal muscles.

  • Increases Muscle Mass

Breathing is the oxygenation process to all of the cells in your body. With the supply of oxygen to the brain this increases the muscles in your body.

  • Strengthens the Immune System

Oxygen travels through your bloodstream by attaching to hemoglobin in your red blood cells. This in turn then enriches your body to metabolize nutrients and vitamins.

  • Improves Posture

Good breathing techniques over a sustained period of time will encourage good posture. Bad body posture will result of incorrect breathing so this is such an important process by getting your posture right from early on. Overtime, will see great benefits.

  • Quality of the Blood

Deep breathing removes all the carbon-dioxide and increases oxygen in the blood and thus increases blood quality.

  • Digestion

The digestive organs such as the stomach receive more oxygen, and hence operates more efficiently. The digestion is further enhanced by the fact that the food is oxygenated more.

  •  Nervous System

The brain, spinal cord and nerves receive increased oxygenation and are more nourished. This improves the health of the whole body, since the nervous system communicates to all parts of the body.

  • Lungs

As you breathe deeply the lung become healthy and powerful, a good insurance against respiratory problems.

  • Stronger Heart

Breathing exercises reduce the workload on the heart in two ways.

Firstly, deep breathing leads to more efficient lungs, which means more oxygen is brought into contact with blood sent to the lungs by the heart. So, the heart doesn’t have to work as hard to deliver oxygen to the tissues.

Secondly, it leads to a greater pressure differential in the lungs, which leads to an increase in the circulation, thus resting the heart a little.

  • Weight Control.

If you are overweight, the extra oxygen burns up the excess fat more efficiently.   If you are underweight, the extra oxygen feeds the starving tissues and glands.

  • Cellular Regeneration

Breathing keeps you younger, by increasing cellular regeneration and reducing oxidative stress.

The oxygen we inhale reaches all 37 trillion cells that make up our body.

Each cell has specific compartments called mitochondria, which are the energy factories of our cells. They use oxygen to get the energy out of the food.

The more oxygen we take in, the more energy we get out! Insufficient oxygen means insufficient biological energy that can result in tiredness, fatigue but also life-threatening disease.

Again, air has the same function as the water, flushing toxic waste through your lymphatic system

Just like a glass of water in the morning will brings your pH level up, same as breathing.

Timing depends on intensity and individual lung capacity, but normally with mouth-chest breathing, same as  Wim Hof’s technique, you will need 1-2 min to raise pH level up to 8-9

Final notes on breathing: Quality of air is crucial! If you can practice your  breathing exercises outdoors, always better than enclosed spaces

Sun Exposure

Cartoon Character Sunbathing On The Beach 2388483 Vector Art at Vecteezy

Sun exposure is not only a fast and free way to boost your immunity.

ALSO:

  • Will give you energy
  • Higher serotonin level , that automatically brings your mood up
  • Giving you protection from cell deformity (at certain times during day, of coerce)
  • Improving your circadian rhythm
  • Decreasing pain
  • Raising your cognition
  • Protecting you from neurocognitive disorders, like MS, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia.

And I’m not going to dig dipper on sun exposure benefits, its a vast subject to discuss, and here we are only focusing on boosting the immune system efficiency with easy, low cost or no cost fixes

Adaptability

The Art of Adaptability – The Social Worker's Superpower - SocialWorker.com

Adaptability comes in two forms:

  • Physical

When you cut your finger or scrape your knee. Basically, you put your nervous system under stress. Allowing pathogens to get in your skin and adapt to that stressor overtime, you train and strengthen your immune system to be ready for the next combat situation

  • Mental

When you face emotional or mental challenges in your life and adapt to it without breaking down. Again, you train your mind to be flexible and mentally prepared for the next one. Its a part of the neuroplasticity. We are so lucky, we are able to adapt and mold our nervous system like this!

Meditation

Orgasmic Meditation' Alters Brain Function - Neuroscience News

An analysis from recent research shows that meditation boosted the activity of hundreds of genes known to be directly involved in regulating immune response.

Well,  in order to really tweak your genes, you would need an intense meditation marathon, but anyway we don’t need to change our genes here, only to boost immunity to a certain degree.

Nowadays, spiritual retreats are so popular, so are the researches conducted at these events.

One example:

Study involved 106 men and women, average age 40, enrolled in a meditation retreat conducted at the Isha Institute of Inner Sciences in McMinnville, Tenn.

Multiple blood samples were drawn from all the participants at several times:

  • five to eight weeks prior to the retreat
  • just before the retreat began
  • three months after the retreat was completed.

The eight-day retreat provided all participants with vegan cuisine, and all followed a regular sleep schedule. Meditation sessions lasted 10 hours a day and were conducted in silence.

The result: Chandran and his colleagues found an uptick in activity involving 220 immune-related genes, including 68 genes engaged in so-called “interferon signaling.”

The study authors pointed out that such signaling can be key to mounting an effective defense against various health conditions , including cancermultiple sclerosis , and COVID-19

Music

How music can help to ease work anxiety - SEEK Career Advice

It is proven that listening to and playing music can quickly increase the body’s production of the antibody immunoglobulin A and natural killer cells NKC (the cells that attack invading viruses and boost the immune system’s effectiveness).

Music also reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol (huge benefit)

Your signature brain wave activity is unique to you. It has a distinct rhythm and pattern that has developed over time and through habit.

So, best advise for everyone that wants to keep the immune system in top shape, for general wellbeing and brain optimization is just Sing Out Loud, as much and as loud you can and enjoy! Your body will know what tone to pick!

Listening to different waves can help you develop new patterns and expand frequencies that you might be lacking or needing more of.

For example,  if you have difficulty focusing – look at Beta & Gamma, or if you have trouble relaxing –  explore theta, alpha or even delta

  • Gamma waves

The fastest of the brainwave frequencies and signify the highest state of focus possible. They are associated with peak concentration and the brain’s optimal frequency for cognitive functioning.

  • Beta waves

Range between 13-40 HZ , when you are wide-awake and alert. Your mind is sharp and focused. It makes connections quickly, easily, and you’re primed to do work that requires your full attention.

In  Beta state, neurons fire abundantly, in rapid succession, helping you achieve peak performance.

New ideas and solutions to problems flash like lightning into your mind.

  • Alpha state

It is an intensely pleasurable and relaxed state of consciousness , essential to stress reduction and high levels of creativity. Artists, musicians and athletes are prolific alpha producers; so are intuitive persons.

  • Theta

Well, this one is most  elusive and extraordinary brain states you can explore.

It is also known as the twilight state, which you normally only experience fleetingly upon waking, or drifting off to sleep.

Theta is the brain state where magic happens in the crucible of your own neurological activity. But for most, being able to enter the dreamlike theta state without falling asleep takes meditation practice.

  • Delta or D-waves

In this state, you are sound asleep.

D-waves are the slowest of all five brainwave frequencies and range between 0-4 Hz.

Slow Wave Sleep or SWS, is the deepest of sleep states, also play a vital role in health. Here, the brain begins producing very slow, large  waves.

Even if your lifestyle doesn’t allow for the luxury of a full eight hours of sleep, a few hours of D-waves will trick your brain into thinking it’s had all the restorative sleep it needs.

Delta brainwave programs are an ideal choice for when you want to access your subconscious for deep and powerful reprogramming.

And …. that’s from me, for now!

Citrus fruits

Most people turn straight to vitamin C after they’ve caught a cold. That’s because it helps build up your immune system.

Vitamin C is thought to increase the production of white blood cells, which are key to fighting infections.

Almost all citrus fruits are high in VitC. With such a variety to choose from, it’s easy to add a squeeze of this vitamin to any meal.

Because your body doesn’t produce or store it, you need it daily, for continued health. The recommendation for most adults is:

  • 75 mg for women
  • 90 mg for men

If you opt for supplements, avoid taking more than 2,000 milligrams a day.

Red bell peppers

If you think citrus fruits have the most vitamin C of any fruit or vegetable, think again. Well, red bell peppers contain almost 3 times as much vitamin C  as an orange (45 mg). They’re also a rich source of beta carotene.

Besides boosting your immune system, vitamin C may help you maintain healthy skin. Beta carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A, helps keep your eyes and skin healthy.

Broccoli

Broccoli is supercharged with vitamins and minerals. Packed with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as fiber and many other antioxidants. This green “super flower” is one of the healthiest vegetables you can put on your plate.

The key to keeping its power intact is to cook it as little as possible — or better yet, not at all.

Garlic

Garlic is found in almost every cuisine in the world. It adds a little zing to food and it’s a must-have for your health.

Early civilizations recognized its value in fighting infections. Garlic may also slow down hardening of the arteries, and there’s weak evidence that it helps lower blood pressure. Also, for this reason, to lower cholesterol.

Garlic’s immune-boosting properties seem to come from a heavy concentration of sulfur-containing compounds, such as allicin.

Ginger

Ginger is another ingredient many turn to after getting sick. It may help decrease inflammation, which may reduce a sore throat and inflammatory illnesses. It decreases chronic pain and might even possess cholesterol-lowering properties, and relives nausea as well.

The spicy root packs some heat in the form of gingerol, a relative of capsaicin.

Spinach

Spinach made our list not just because it’s rich in vitamin C — it’s also packed with numerous antioxidants and beta carotene, which may both increase the infection-fighting ability of our immune systems.

Similar to broccoli, spinach is healthiest when it’s cooked as little as possible, so that it retains its nutrients.

However, light cooking makes it easier to absorb the vitamin A and allows other nutrients to be released from oxalic acid, an antinutrient. Check out some spinach recipes here.

Yogurt

yogurt topped with seeds and granola and placed in a small white and blue floral bowl

Look for yogurts that have the phrase “live and active cultures” printed on the label, like Greek yogurt. These cultures may stimulate your immune system to help fight diseases.

Try to get plain yogurts rather than the kind that are flavored and loaded with sugar. You can sweeten plain yogurt yourself with healthy fruits and a drizzle of honey instead.

Yogurt can also be a great source of vitamin D, so try to select brands fortified with this vitamin. Vitamin D helps regulate the immune system and is thought to boost our body’s natural defenses against diseases.

Clinical trials are even in the works to study its possible effects on COVID-19.

Almonds

unroasted almonds in a dark-colored bowl on top of beige fabric

When it comes to preventing and fighting off colds, vitamin E tends to take a backseat to vitamin C. However, this powerful antioxidant is key to a healthy immune system.

It’s a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it requires the presence of fat to be absorbed properly. Nuts, such as almonds, are packed with the vitamin and also have healthy fats.

Adults only need about 15 mg of vitamin E each day. A half-cup serving of almonds, which is about 46 whole, shelled almonds, provides around 100 percent of the recommended daily amount.

Sunflower seeds

sunflower seeds in a clear jar on top of a turquoise table

Sunflower seeds are full of nutrients, including phosphorousmagnesium, and vitamins B-6 and E.

Vitamin E is important in regulating and maintaining immune system function.

The seeds are also incredibly high in selenium. Just 1 ounce contains nearly half the selenium that the average adult needs daily. A variety of studies, mostly performed on animals, have looked at its potential to combat viral infections such as swine flu (H1N1).

Turmeric

turmeric powder, turmeric roots, and turmeric supplements on top of a turquoise and white plate

You may know turmeric as a key ingredient in many curries. This bright yellow, bitter spice has also been used for years as an anti-inflammatory in treating both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

High concentrations of curcumin, it can help decrease exercise-induced muscle damage and boost immunity

Green tea

loose leaf green tea in a white mug on a wrought iron table

Both, green and black teas are packed with flavonoids, a type of antioxidant.

Where green tea really excels is in its levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg)

In studies, EGCg has been shown to enhance immune function.

The fermentation process black tea goes through destroys a lot of it.

Green tea, on the other hand, is steamed and not fermented, so the enzyme is preserved.

The tea is also a good source of the amino acid L-theanine, that aid in the production of germ-fighting compounds in your T cells.

Papaya

two large papaya halves on a dark wood table

Papaya is another fruit loaded with vitamin C.

You can find double the daily recommended amount of vitamin C in a single medium fruit.

Papayas also have a digestive enzyme called papain, that has anti-inflammatory effects. Also, have decent amounts of potassium, magnesium, and folate

Kiwi

whole kiwi fruits and two kiwi halves in a metal basket with handles

Kiwis are naturally rich in folate, potassium, vitamin K, and vitamin C.

Poultry

uncooked whole chicken on a metal pan surrounded by salt flakes and a white and blue plaid rag

I normally do not advise on consuming animal products, but when meat-eaters, you’re sick and reach for a chicken soup, it’s more than just the placebo effect that makes you feel better.

The soup may help lower inflammation, which will improve symptoms of a cold.

Chicken and turkey, both are high in vitamin B-6.

About 3 ounces of any poultry, contains nearly one-third of your daily recommended amount of B-6.

B-6 is an important player in many of the chemical reactions that happen in the body. It’s also vital to the formation of new and healthy red blood cells.

Stock or broth made by boiling chicken bones contains gelatin, chondroitin, and other nutrients helpful for gut healing and immunity.

Shellfish

fresh crab and half of a lemon on a white plate placed on a table

Shellfish isn’t what jumps to mind for many, who are trying to boost their immune system, but they are packed with zinc, that is strong immune booster

Zinc doesn’t get as much attention as many other vitamins and minerals, but our bodies need it, so that our immune cells can function as intended.

Keep in mind that you don’t want to have more than the daily recommended amount of zinc in your diet:

  • 11 mg for adult men
  • 8 mg for most adult women
NOTE: Too much zinc can actually inhibit immune system function.

Study Discovers New Ways to Kill Cancer Cells

A wealth of recent research has found that cannabinoids, the active compounds in cannabis, prevent cancer from spreading, growing, and even cause tumor cells to die. But, how is all of this possible? We’ll tell you.

1. Anti-proliferative

One problem with cancer cells is that they don’t stop growing. Once a malignancy begin, these clumped, abnormal cells continue to divide and conquer. New cells are continuously being made, then rapidly spread to other tissues in the body. This process of growing and spreading is called proliferation.

Here’s how cannabis can help: the active compounds in the herb are anti-proliferative, so spreading is not possible anymore!

A year earlier, in 2013, a team of Italian scientists found that non-psychoactive CBD protected against cancer cell migration, adhesion, and invasion. These terms simply the path cancer cells go through their development.

Back in 2010, researchers found that cannabis also had an anti-proliferative effect in deep infiltrating endometriosis, where painful lesions appear on various female reproductive organs. Endometriosis increases your risk of developing cancer.

2. Anti-metastatic

When cancer cells migrate from part of the body to another, the cells become metastatic. The cell breaks away from the original tumor, travel through the blood or lymph system, and make a home elsewhere in the body. This is why some people with breast cancer later develop another one of the bone, liver, brain, or lungs.

Recent research discovered that cannabinoids block metastasis.

Over the past two decades, Spanish scientists at the Complutense University of Madrid have been studying the impact of cannabinoids and cancer cells.

3. Anti-angiogenesis

For tumors to survive, they need blood. Unfortunately, they take all of the blood they need through a process called angiogenesis. This way your body enables tumors to grow blood vessels. They grow larger and larger until they impede normal bodily function.

Researchers have been trying to develop drugs which stop tumors from creating blood cells. Fortunately, cannabinoids seem to do just that.

In 2008, a Spanish research team led by Cristina Blázquez discovered that psychoactive THC (Delta 9 or Delta 8) weakens a tumor’s ability to develop new blood vessels. While the team looked at brain cancer cells, called gliomas specifically, they mention that the same effects have been found in melanomas and skin carcinomas as well.

Additional research  from Vanderbilt University cited evidence that non-psychoactive CBD is also anti-angiogenic, though it works differently from THC. This is big news, as it shows that the active compounds in cannabis fight tumor cells in a variety of ways.

4. Apoptosis

Already, cannabinoids stop tumor cells from spreading, slow down growth, and cut off their blood supply. But, can cannabis actually kill cancer cells? Research suggests that it can.

A recent study published in Current Oncology  found that both THC and CBD were effective in killing neuroblastoma cells (most common tumors among children).  And guess what, with this particular type of cancer, CBD was more effective.

But, how? Simply said, CBD caused the brain tumor cells to commit suicide. The technical name for cell suicide is apoptosis. It is a natural mechanism that the body uses to clear out cells that are damaged and ineffective.

This phenomenon is known as “programmed cell death” and it helps maintain the health of your cells. For some reason, cancer cells no longer die. They evade apoptosis.

Research as early as 1998 has found that cannabinoids like CBD (cannabidiol)  and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) trigger apoptosis in tumor cells, meaning they actually die.

* The main ingredient in Beta Kids, Beta Glucan, has been featured in hundreds of studies of which can be found at Pubmed.gov, 2021

Why is Beta Glucan a necessary supplement for kids?
Our immune system is our first line of defense and it can always use additional “soldiers.”
The average person has about a 30% active immune response. Taking our Beta Glucan increases someone’s immune response to 60%, and in some cases even more, if they take the maximum dose.
This allows for your immune system to recognize cells that are both self and non-self more effectively. I’m sure you can imagine the benefits of walking around with a doubled immune response/immune system!
The immune response can be supported with beta-glucan in a safe and natural way. Keep in mind that our Beta Glucan makes a person’s immune system smarter and stronger, but never causes overstimulation or harm. There are no known side effects.
How does Beta Glucan Work?
The fiber-like molecule activates every Immune System Cell in your body, including Macrophages, Neutrophils, Basophils, Natural Killer Cells, etc.
They “trigger” a whole cascade of immune functionality. This completes the immune system and makes it possible for your body to produce the most effective, appropriate response possible.
Our Beta Glucan is actually considered an immunomodulator. For a substance or product to be an immunomodulator it cannot overstimulate or suppress your immune system.
As this product provides a healthy, safe immune response at any dosage, it will never overstimulate or harm the body.. The same cannot be said for typical “immune boosters.” Beta Glucan improves immune function and makes your immune system stronger, making it easier for your body to identify what is self and non-self cells (the bad guys).

Why Beta-glucans 1,3D:

  • Strong and quick immune booster and immune modulator. It binds to a specific receptor site on the surface of all immune cells with CR3 receptors. This binding enhances the readiness of these immune cells to attack any foreign body perceived as non-self (i.e. viruses, bacteria, fungi, cancer, parasites etc.) It is the presence of these non-self/foreign bodies that cause these immune cells to become stimulated.
  • It is the most significant anti-cancerous immune-stimulant, a must for all stage malignancy
  • Eliminates high cholesterol build ups by preventing the absorption of cholesterol from food in the stomach and intestines
  • Fights diabetes, HIV/AIDS and many other serious diseases
  • Lowers high blood pressure
  • Eliminates canker sores
  • Research shows that beta glucans purified from baker’s yeast enhance the immune system better than any other type of beta glucan studied, because they are highly-branched and biologically active particles.
  • Beta 1, 3-D Glucan is intensely purified and derived from cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, so does not cause an allergic reaction.
  • Beta glucan is not live yeast, therefore it cannot cause or aggravate a yeast infection.
  • The Beta 1, 3-D Glucan by Transfer Point  is rated GRAS by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Beta 1, 3-D Glucan enhances the effectiveness of many drugs, including anti-infection, cholesterol-lowering, and chemotherapy drugs. For that reason It is incorporated in many major chronic and acute immune, cardio-vascular, inflammatory related natural and  holistic protocols and healing regimens

Beta Glucan 1,3 D 60 Capsules 500mg each

New Vegan Pallulan-based capsules

DOSE:

The immune system is more enhanced with the more beta glucan you take. For maintenance and only preventative use, the immune system is greatly enhanced when taken daily (on empty stomach)

For cancer patients, dosing is determined by body weight:

For every 50 pounds of your weight – you take one (1) capsule of 500mg. If you weight 150 pounds – you need 1500mg or 3X500mg, so you take 3 capsules, on an empty stomach, in the morning

Kids ages 4&Up should be using BETA KIDS

How many caplets do I take? That depends on your immune system and what you are dealing with, and your body weight. Everyone’s immune system is different, and your immune system is also changing constantly. The information below will give you some guidance on dosage

Healthy: If you have no challenges and you are an average weight adult (150-175 lbs.) – 100 to 200 mg. daily is recommended.

Chronic: If you have recurring problems, but they are not acute, or life threatening, you would take more. To start, double the above amount and observe your response.

Acute: If you have a critical condition, determine the therapeutic dose for your weight (refer to formula and chart). Start with approximately 1/3 of the therapeutic dose and increase slowly until you reach the maximum dose. Taking more than the therapeutic amount would achieve no greater response.

To maximize your uptake of Beta Glucan, you should always take it on an empty stomach. Wait at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything. An ample amount of pure water should be used to swallow the material. (No coffee, tea, juice, etc.. just water is great for optimal absorption). Take the full day’s dose at one time!

Dry FAST – Explained

Types Of Dry Fasting

1. Intermittent Dry Fasting (Soft)

Intermittent dry fasting has three main approaches:

  • 16:8 Dry fasting is one of the most popular methods. The only difference from the classic intermittent fasting is that you not only abstain from food, but also from any liquid intake for 16 hours straight
  • 20:4 Dry Fasting is more extreme, you can consume liquid and food only within a 4-hour gap per day and abstain from it for the remaining 20 hours.
  • Ramadan Intermittent Fasting or RIF, as the name suggests, is done by Muslims during the month of Ramadan. They have to abstain from food and drink between dawn and sunset.
The fast usually lasts somewhere between 11 and 16 hours. But In some regions, such as Greenland, where the days during the month of Ramadan are much shorter, the fast can last up to 21 hours.
Most of the scientific research done on dry fasting is done particularly on Muslims during the month of Ramadan.

2. Prolonged Dry Fasting

Prolonged dry fasting means fasting for more than 24 hours.
Although  24 hours is where health experts draw the line, majority of us can do relatively regular dry fasts of 48-72 hours. Experienced dry fasters can fast more than that, some even claim over 10 days, more often in retreat support groups, supervised by experts and a medical team

Note that water is essential for every organ in our body to function. Not having water for three days can lead to severe dehydration or even death, and its not recommended going on such extreme dry fasts without preparation and expert supervision.

3. Absolute Dry Fasting (Hard)

Absolute dry fasting means abstaining not only from drinking but also from having any contact with the water at all. Not showering, not brushing your teeth, not even washing your hands.
The theory behind it is that some amount of water can be absorbed through our skin, and the goal of dry fasting is to cut out the liquid intake completely.
While some minerals, nutrients, and chemicals can be absorbed through the skin, our skin epidermis is water-resistant, meaning this theory shouldn’t be held as truth.
Going on an absolute dry fast just might make the whole experience even more uncomfortable and far more dangerous

Dry fasting benefits

It is obvious – no one is doing it for their own pleasure:) There might be some really striking health benefits that make it even considerable doing.

  • Improved cognitive function

The main motivation for a lot of people is improved focus and productivity.
Although intermittent fasting is a more popular option, dry fasting may improve cognitive function even more.
study on 22 women and seven men dry fasting during Ramadan was conducted. Investigation showed that the plasma levels of serotonin, BDNF, and NGF were significantly increased during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Serotonin is an important chemical and neurotransmitter in the human body. It is believed to help regulate mood and social behavior, appetite and digestion, sleep, memory, and sexual desire and function. Lack of serotonin can cause depression and anxiety.

BDNF is a protein which is found in the brain. It helps to support the survival of existing neurons and encourages the growth and differentiation of new neurons and synapses. BDNF is also vital for long-term memory.

NGF is involved in the growth, maintenance, proliferation, and survival of nerve cells. It is, in fact, critical for the survival and maintenance of sympathetic and sensory neurons, as they undergo apoptosis in its absence. However, several recent studies suggest that NGF is also involved in pathways besides regulating the life cycle of neurons.

  • Prolonged Longevity

Remember Holocaust disaster, so many people left to near death starvation. But do you know, that same Holocaust survivors lived to near or above 100 years old, just because of that extreme, extensive starvation episodes

  • Enhanced Productivity

This is no surprise to anyone that after heavy lunch felt sluggish for hours.

  • Spiritual Cleansing and Realization

  • Weight loss

Since during dry fasting, you’re not consuming ANY calories, this may sound like an obvious benefit.
But it does have some magic to it because it’s incredibly effective in burning fat.

First, dry fasting helps to lose weight because of calorie restriction. All weight loss is achieved through the same equation – you lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume.

Second, fasting is linked to lipolysis, which is basically fat burning.
By lowering insulin and increasing growth hormone levels, it also increases the release of the fat-burning hormone called norepinephrine (noradrenaline). Due to these hormonal changes, fasting increases your metabolic rate.

Third, dry fasting won’t make you lose your muscle mass. Well, at least that’s what a 2016 study says. The study examined 43 Ramadan fasting subjects for 4-5 weeks. The catabolism (catabolic state, which is related to protein loss) was not triggered, but body fat measures have decreased significantly.
Although, it is important to note that weight loss was only a temporary effect, as the weight was quickly regained within one month after fasting.

Fourth, advocates of dry fasting claim it helps to burn three times more fat than regular fasting.
That’s because when our bodies are out of water, they start looking for ways to make it ourselves. Interestingly, our fat is full of water. For every 100 grams of fat, the body can produce 110 grams of metabolic water, while 100 grams of carbohydrates yields only 55 grams of water.
This means that the body intensifies the fat burn in order to make more water.

Dry fasting brings you the benefits of weight loss, improved cholesterol levels, anti-inflammatory effects, lowered blood pressure, and others, as mentioned above.

The fast weight loss might be what interests the most since each day of dry fasting can result in weight loss of 3 pounds. It means in 5 days of dry fasting you can lose up to 15 pounds. Most of which would be simply a loss of liquids, but the results still would be very visible.

Bodybuilders tend to avoid drinking water before competitions to make their muscles more visible and defined.

Thus, after breaking the dry fast, a big part of the lost weight comes back, meaning dry fasting isn’t the most sustainable method for weight loss.

  • May improve cholesterol level

Another study conducted on Ramadan fasting subjects showed incredible results in the increase of good cholesterol.
Levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) increased by 30-40%. That is definitely good news as high levels of HDL cholesterol can lower risk for heart disease and stroke.
“Good” cholesterol, absorbs the “bad” cholesterol and carries it back to the liver. The liver then flushes it from the body.

  • May help treat diabetes

Dry fasting can also help treat diabetes.
Results of a 2014 study revealed that fasting during Ramadan is significantly associated with a decrease in blood lipid profile, blood pressure, glucose, and HbA1C level among diabetic patients.
But, it is important to note that a diabetic person should always consult their doctor before starting any kind of fasting.

  • May Improve vision

  • Anti-inflammatory effects

Dry fasting has some proven anti-inflammatory effects. Ramadan fasts are associated with significantly lower concentrations of inflammatory markers such as CRP, IL-6, and TNF-α.

CRP is a protein whose circulating concentrations rise in response to inflammation. High levels of CRP may be related to a higher risk of diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.

IL-6 stimulates the inflammatory and auto-immune processes in many diseases such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, depression, Alzheimer’s Disease, prostate cancer, and rheumatoid arthritis.

TNF-α is a cell-signaling protein involved in systemic inflammation. Dysregulation of TNF production has been implicated in a variety of human diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, major depression, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease.

  • Lower blood pressure

Another great benefit of dry fasting is that it lowers blood pressure, a study says.
But it means that people with lower than normal blood pressure should consult their doctor before starting dry fasting.

  • Bone density buildup

study showed that changes in dietary practices during Ramadan modulated PTH secretion to a pattern which might be beneficial to bone health.

PTH, also called parathormone, is a hormone secreted by the parathyroid glands that regulate the serum calcium through its effects on bone, kidney, and intestine.

  • Prevents coronary heart disease

Coronary heart disease (CHD), or coronary artery disease, develops when the coronary arteries become too narrow.

The coronary arteries are the blood vessels that supply oxygen and blood to the heart.
CHD tends to develop when cholesterol builds up on the artery walls, creating plaques. These plaques cause the arteries to narrow, reducing blood flow to the heart. A clot can sometimes obstruct the blood flow, causing serious health problems.

study on 82 volunteers with a previous history of either coronary artery disease, metabolic syndrome, or cerebrovascular disease was conducted.
The results showed a significant improvement in 10 years coronary heart disease risk score and other cardiovascular risk factors such as lipids profile, systolic blood pressure, weight, BMI, and waist circumference.

    Dry Fasting And Autophagy

    What Is Autophagy?

Autophagy is a cell renewal process when damaged cells or cell parts are removed and replaced, therefore creating a healthier and more functional cell.
Autophagy plays a housekeeping role and may clear damaged cell structures (such as mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and peroxisomes) by removing damaged cell parts. Autophagy may also remove intracellular pathogens and is thought of as a survival mechanism.

Another popular way to explain autophagy is that when you stop eating and your digestive system isn’t loaded, your body has more “time and energy to mind the cell renewal business.”

How Does Autophagy Relate To Dry Fasting?

Autophagy can be induced by starvation, specifically by an increase of glucagon. When we eat, our insulin levels increase, and our glucagon levels decrease.

Conversely, when we don’t eat, or fast, our insulin levels go down, and our glucagon levels go up. This glucagon increase is known to be one of the most effective stimulators of autophagy.
Although there’s no scientific research that backs it, there’s a theory that dry fasting increases autophagy three times more compared to regular fasting.

As said before, the popular theory explaining how autophagy is related to fasting is that when the body isn’t loaded and busy digesting food, it invests the energy in self-repair.
When we drink water, our bodies are still busy with water-metabolism (absorption, urination, etc.).
So not consuming food nor any liquid, by theory, makes the autophagy increase.

Dry fasting dangers and safety cautions

After all the benefits named, a fundamental question pops up “is dry fasting safe?“.

Every article on weight loss you see, every doctor or wellness expert you meet would tell you to always drink enough water.
That’s why dry fasting and improved health in the same sentence might sound really weird and counter intuitive.

This extreme diet approach really has its dangers. The number one danger is, of course – dehydration.

Three days and more without water can be deadly, although there are cases where people were able to survive up to 10 or even more days.

It’s essential to note that drinking water and urinating is important as this way you discard the toxic chemicals your body makes during

Dry fasting can be extremely dangerous if:

    • You’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
    • You do it for prolonged periods (longer than 24 hours).
    • You’re on any medications (as water is needed for the medication to work and taking medications without water can be harmful to your kidneys and liver).
    • You’re doing any kind of (intermittent) fasting for the first time.
    • You’re exposed to heat.

Dry fasting stages

#1 Glycogen stage

Even if you’re not consuming any food or water, your body needs energy to run. After you’re out of blood sugar, your body starts using glycogen for energy. This is the first stage of dry fasting. This stage takes about a day, as glycogen stores last roughly 24 hours. It also depends on how physically active you are doing your dry fast.

Most claim this stage to be the hardest. It might be because using glycogen instead of fat for energy means producing less metabolic water, therefore, being more thirsty.

#2 Fat Burning stage

After your body uses all of the glycogen, it’s time to burn fat, the ultimate energy storage.
When the fat-burning state begins, dry fasters tend to feel less thirsty, as the body starts using metabolic water from burned fat cells.

A shortcut to this stage would be adapting yourself to a ketogenic diet before starting a dry fast.
When you enter ketosis, and your body is used to burn fat for fuel, the whole initially unpleasant dry fasting experience can become a little easier.

Dry Fasting vs. Water Fasting

Water fasting means abstaining from food or other drinks than water for certain periods of time.

The first obvious difference between these two is that during a dry fast you’re not consuming ANYTHING, including water. And that, of course, makes it way more extreme.

But, it might still be worth giving dry fasting a try because of the assumptions of 3X faster fat-burn and 3X increased autophagy mentioned before. Although that should be taken with a grain of salt, as there’s no valid scientific research to back this theory.

Saying which one is better is hard. Both of these fasting methods, especially if done for prolonged periods, are quite extreme.
Dry fasting can be more dangerous, but also says to have more health benefits. Interestingly, a lot of people claim that they feel less hungry on dry fast compared to water fast.

At the end of the day, it’s about you trying both of these for yourself and seeing what works the best.

PREPARATION

Intermittent dry fasting, if safety cautions are taken, might bring outstanding health benefits.

Although prolonged dry fasts are something, one should carefully prepare for, as going without water for more than 24 hours can be extremely dangerous.

Should you try it? Ill leave that one up to you. Just remember to stay smart and cautious.

Water fast is an important step in preparation for dry fast, but first few more steps you should take:

  • For only one day dry fast – no preparation is required
  • For 2 day dry fast you should water fast for at least 1 day
  • For 3 days and more dry fast – more preparation, as follows, is required:

– 7 to 10 days prior dry fast, cut off caffeine and alcohol

– Cut down calories (mainly fresh salads and juice) but include omega 3, like wild salmon or supplementation (liquid or in capsule form)

– Urine should be clear for a week, prior the actual fast

– No excessive sun exposure and/or sweating (add electrolytes)

– If you are new to dry fast, my recommendation is to start with few 16:8 or 20:4 Intermittent dry fasting or once a week 24hr dry fast for a month

– Boredom could/will be quite a challenge while fasting, mostly because of the habit of eating at certain hours, so engage in mindful practices like journaling, music, other non-physical hobbies, meditation, light yoga, breathing, tai chi, etc.

Happy Fasting!

#1 Beta Glucan 1,3 D

#1 here deserves extra attention for its superior immune support and diversity

As a soluble fiber, beta-glucan itself, is not digested, but it does slow food transit in the intestines.

As a result, carbohydrates are absorbed slower, resulting in more steady blood sugar.

In addition, it moves slowly through the digestive tract, taking cholesterol with it as it goes.

Beta glucans can help you with:

Why Beta  3,1 Glucan?

  • Strong and quick immune booster and immune modulator.
  • Binds to a specific receptor site on the surface of all immune cells with CR3 receptors. This binding enhances the readiness of these immune cells to attack any foreign body perceived as non-self (bacteria, fungi, parasites etc.).
  • Research shows that beta glucans purified from baker’s yeast enhance the immune system better than any other type of beta glucan studied, because they are highly-branched and biologically active particles.
  • This formulation is intensely purified and derived from cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, so does not cause an allergic reaction.
  • It  is not live yeast, therefore it cannot cause or aggravate an yeast infection.
  • Transfer Point  is rated GRAS by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

DOSE:

  • For maintenance and only preventative use, take:

1 capsule (if 100-120 pds) or 2  (if 120-200 pds) on empty stomach

  • If you are facing more severe illness:

For every 50 pounds of your weight – take one (1) capsule of 500mg.

If you weight 150 pounds – you will need 1500mg (3X500mg), so you take 3 capsules

Recommendations:

Take it on an empty stomach, in the morning (preferably)

Determine the therapeutic dose for your weight (refer to formula and chart bellow).

Start with approximately 1/3 of the therapeutic dose and increase slowly until you reach the maximum dose.

NOTE: Taking more than the therapeutic amount would achieve NO greater response.

To maximize your uptake of Beta Glucan:

  • Take it on an empty stomach.
  • Wait at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything.
  • Drink more water
  • Take the full day’s dose at one time!

#11 Adaptogens

Adaptogens are also known as “immunomodulators”,  because they help modulate the immune system in response to stressors like illness or injury.

Some of the most popular adaptogenic herbs are tulsi,  ashwagandha, ginseng, rhodiola and few medicinal mushrooms.

The adaptogens mentioned above have been shown to boost the immune system by increasing immunity-related proteins in your body while also reducing inflammatory cytokines that can worsen symptoms of colds or flu.

One of the most popular adaptogens in the Western world.

You may see it marketed as tulsi or it may go by its scientific name Ocimum tenuiflorum.

Native to Southeast Asia, holy basil has been widely used in Indian medicine, due to its antimicrobial  and immune properties.

Holy basil protects against chemical stress from exposure to environmental toxins, as well as helps normalize levels of blood sugar, blood pressure, and blood fats, and improves memory and mental function.

You may also hear reference to “Siberian-ginseng” or Eleuthero, which isn’t, botanically speaking, the same herb,  yet is oftentimes mixed together with the Asian or American varieties.

TAKE:

  1. American ginseng for  memory boost
  2.  Asian ginseng for menopausal symptoms, cold  hands and feet in women, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

It happens to be one of the most  scientifically investigated of these herbs out there

In fact, the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine noted: “that the herb reduced anxiety scores by 56 percent, whereas psychotherapy reduced scores by only 30 percent.”

There are two patented ashwagandha extracts found in many supplement brands that offer varying benefits:

  1. KSM-66 — for reducing stress-related food cravings, enhancing muscle strength and endurance, boosting after-exercise recovery, improving memory, and sexual function
  2. Sensoril — for short-term memory, anxiety, and risk of heart disease.
Yet, no matter which variety you go for, the two types of ashwagandha share their ability to:

 – Calm the central nervous system

 – Reduces unhealthy levels of inflammation

 – Arthritis Relief

 – Balance the immune system.

Next to ashwagandha, Rhodiola is one of those potent, powerful, and presumptuous adaptogens that should be consumed with a bit of care.

Rhodiola — known as an “arctic root or golden root” — is native to the cold mountainous regions of Asia and Europe and has been a traditional natural medicine in these parts for thousands of years.

This impressive herb contains more than 140 active ingredients, the two most potent of which are rosavin and salidroside.

The herb is most widely used to treat depression and anxiety, yet it’s also known to:

 – Enhance energy

 – Improve mental performance

 – Increase endurance

 – Reduce a fatigued state

As with all adaptogens, Rhodiola is also able to calm the central nervous system,  which makes it easier for your immune system to function properly.

Another suggestion in liquid form -  Liposomal Adaptogen Adrenal Mix by Cymbiotika

#17 LIPH Alkaline Mineral Concentrate

lipH is a modified value added silicon based compound. In its concentrated form has a pH of 13.7 +/-.

All In-vitro and In-vivo testing done at Texas State University in San Marcos showed miraculous results

In-vitro testing yields the following data:
  • Prevented attachment of deformed cells
  • Reduced harmful mutations in the DNA
  • Induced apoptosis (programmed cell death)
  • Stimulated important antioxidant enzymes
  • Increased nitric oxide dependent anti-viral effects
  • Inhibited enzymes important in viral assembly, metabolism, and replication
  • Caused changes in the viral carbohydrate composition and metabolism
  • Inhibited the activity of the enzyme responsible for transcribing reverse transcription
In-vivo testing yielded precipitated a significant increase in:
  •  SOD
  •  Catalase
  •  Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH)
  •  TRX
  •  Heat Shock Protein expression
Each of the above is instrumental in Increased Life Expectancy and protection from heavy metal toxicity and cellular protection from cell deformation.

What this means:

lipH works within the body to boost the body’s metabolism and to return cells to their normal functioning state.

By regulating the body’s internal environment, lipH helps to establish and maintain a balanced and stable condition , highly conducive to optimal functionality.

The body is constantly adjusting its inner workings to stay balanced and healthy.

Pollution, bad eating habits, injury, illness, stress, age, not treating our bodies as well as we should and just with time, our body’s defense needed to fight on so many fronts becomes overwhelmed and over-run and its ability regulate itself becomes diminished.

lipH works within your body system to boost its ability to naturally balance and to function better and begin healing.

University Testing showed lipH acting on a cellular level:
  • Reduced oxidative stress
  • Increased Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase and Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH)

All of these play a critical role in a body’s ability to establish a strong and healthy system

The reason LIPH is at the bottom of the list is because of the inconvenient storage and to some unusual taste.

Once the concentrate is open needs to be refrigerated and kept in same bottle (if drops are used)  or plastic jug if  diluted!

Other than that, the solution is in clear, water-like consistency and colorless.

LIPH (drops or diluted) can be taken with no breaks, indefinitely and have no contraindications.

Popular LIPH protocols are in combination with MSM and some vitamins and minerals

Skin and Scalp Use:

You can also improve and/or heal your skin and hair by addressing  your pH level topically:

LIPH alkaline face gel

LIPH alkaline topical spray

LIPH alkaline Locks Shampoo

And that’s it from me for now!

Stay Healthy & Safe!

On a cellular level Liph:

  • Reduced oxidative stress
  • Increased Superoxide Dismutase (SOD)
  • Increased Catalase
  • Increased Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH)
All of these play a critical role in a body’s ability to establish a strong and healthy system.

Oxidative Stress

Oxidation, in itself, is a very normal process – If you are alive & well human being there are chemical reactions occurring in your body. One side effect of these chemical reactions is that free radicals are being produced. The body’s Immune System will actually create free radicals in order to fight off disease. Not all free radicals are bad for you, however, it becomes a problem when there are disturbances in the natural oxidation process and if the amount of free radicals is greater than the body can handle, the results can be very destructive.

Free oxygen radicals are created during the metabolism of normal oxygen cells (oxidation), but other than the normal chemical reactions that occur in the body to keep you alive, there are negative environmental factors which increase free radical production.

  • Daily stress – emotional and physical
  • Ozone depletion
  • Air pollutants
  • Smoking cigarettes
  • Inflammation
  • Radiation (which includes UV rays from the sun)
  • Industrial chemicals
  • Processed foods
  • Drugs – recreational and prescription
  • Etc…..

These free radicals are atoms missing a simple electron, but in their frantic search for that “simple electron”, they become biological criminals. They often pulls an electron off a neighboring atom or molecule, causing the affected atom or molecule to become a free radical itself. The new free radical can then pull an electron off the next atom or molecule, and a chemical chain reaction of radical production occurs. The free radicals produced in such reactions often terminate by removing an electron from a molecule which becomes changed or cannot function without it. Such an event causes damage to the molecule, and thus to the cell that contains it, since the molecule often becomes dysfunctional.

Some of the most potentially harmful substances in the body are not toxins that enter from the external environment, but rather internally generated pro-oxidants. While oxygen is essential for life, its use comes at a cost, as it poses a potential threat to biological systems. Accordingly, living systems require an entire system of compounds dedicated to neutralizing oxygen’s harmful effects.

The antioxidant enzymes produced within our bodies are complex proteins that often incorporate minerals such as selenium, zinc and silica in their intricate structures. These antioxidant enzymes serve as the body’s most potent defense against free radicals and ensuing inflammatory reactions. They include Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH), Catalase, and perhaps the most important internally generated antioxidant of all – Superoxide Dismutase (SOD).

Superoxide Dismutase (SOD)

For years, scientists have found a way to boost one of the body’s most powerful natural antioxidant enzymes, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD).

SOD is one of the body’s primary internal anti-oxidant defenses, and plays a critical role in reducing the oxidative stress implicated in atherosclerosis and other life-threatening diseases. Studies have shown that it can play a critical role in reducing internal inflammation and lessening pain associated with conditions such as arthritis.

When delicate Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) molecules are delivered intact to the intestines and absorbed into the bloodstream, they effectively enhance the body’s own primary defense system. Once in circulation in the bloodstream, these powerful antioxidants go to work detoxifying potentially harmful substances and reducing oxidative stress that might otherwise contribute to aging and crippling diseases such as atherosclerosis, stroke, and arthritis.

As another example, consider the visible effects of free radical damage to collagen. Healthy collagen is responsible for the skin’s elasticity and its youthful appearance. As we age, internally generated free oxygen radicals gradually damage the molecular structure of collagen, eventually producing outward signs of aging such as skin wrinkling and sagging. For the first time, scientists at the University of Aarhus in Denmark have shown that SOD plays an important role in preventing this damage from occurring.

SOD is found in both the skin (dermis) and the layers underneath (epidermis) and is key to the production of fibroblasts or healthy skin building cells.

Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) binds directly to collagen, which it protects from oxidation. Reporting in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, was noted that SOD  protects type I collagen from oxidative breakdown. This interaction may play an essential physiological role in preventing fragmentation of collagen during oxidative stress

By strengthening the body’s primary antioxidant systems, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) may offer the most powerful free radical protection available today.

SOD is currently in the spotlight of anti-aging researchers. Studies have shown that Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) acts as both an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory in the body, neutralizing the free radicals that can lead to wrinkles and premutated cell changes.

Unfortunately, as we age, free radical levels increase while Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) levels drop.

There are two types of SOD: copper/zinc SOD which protects the cells’ cytoplasm and manganese SOD which protects the mitochondria. Each type plays a different role in helping our cells stay healthy.

Many researchers believe that abnormalities in the copper/zinc SOD may contribute to the development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which is better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. This is because without the SOD these people are not protected from superoxide which destroys their nerve cells. This is a disease which causes a deterioration of motor nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

SOD has also been used to treat arthritis, prostate problems, corneal ulcers, burn injuries, inflammatory diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, as well as long-term damage from exposure to smoke and radiation, and even to prevent side effects from cancer drugs. It is also being used to reduce facial wrinkles and scar tissue, heal wounds and burns, lighten dark skin (hyper-pigmentation) and protect skin against harmful UV rays.

SOD is  the body’s most crucial antioxidant, as it is responsible for disarming the most dangerous free radicals of all: the highly reactive superoxide radicals. SOD is responsible for catalyzing the conversion of superoxide to elemental oxygen and Hydrogen Peroxide. This transformation is called dismutation. Although Hydrogen Peroxide is also a pro-oxidant compound, it is subsequently converted by the enzymes Catalase and Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) Peroxidase to simple water and oxygen.

Catalase in details:

  • It is resent in all aerobic organisms. It is an antioxidant enzyme produced naturally within the body. Main function – to convert Hydrogen Peroxide or oxygenated water into a molecule of water and a molecule of oxygen gas, as in the reaction: 2(H2O2) = 2H2O + O2.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide is a by-product of many metabolic reactions that must be eliminated as soon as it forms. Without the intervention of Catalase, accumulation of Hydrogen Peroxide would be fatal.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide is a naturally occurring but very destructive waste product of all Oxygen-dependent organisms that is produced when fatty acids are converted to energy and also when white blood cells attack and kill bacteria.
  • Critical in breaking down potentially harmful toxins such as alcohol, phenol and formaldehyde and helps prevent Hydrogen Peroxide from converting to the potentially damaging hydroxyl radicals that can attack and mutate DNA.
  • Works closely with Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) to prevent free radical damage to the body. The SOD converts the dangerous superoxide radical to Hydrogen Peroxide, and Catalase then turns that into water and oxygen. Catalase has to be one of the most efficient enzymes found in our cells. Every second each Catalase enzyme is converting millions of Hydrogen Peroxide molecules into water and oxygen.
  • Catalase is a globular protein formed of four identical chains of amino acids (each over 500 amino acids long); each chain includes a chemical group called “heme”, an organic molecule containing an atom of iron.  It helps the body convert Hydrogen Peroxide into water and oxygen, thus preventing the formation of carbon dioxide bubbles in the blood.
  • Used in bacteriology for identifying particular bacteria. When bacteria are added to Hydrogen Peroxide, effervescence will occur if Catalase is present, as a result of the release of dioxygen.
  • Has potent capacity for combating oxidative reactions (the same process that makes metal rust), meaning it can protect cell membranes and DNA from this damaging oxidation process.
  • Strengthens cardiac muscle and protects against age-related heart problems.

We need oxygen to live, yet when the body uses oxygen it produces free radicals that damage cell membranes, proteins, and DNA. Free radicals are also thought to be a key component of the aging process. Given its polyvalence and lack of toxicity, Catalase is at the foundation of any anti-ageing program.

Peroxisomes

Peroxisomes contain at least 50 different enzymes, which are involved in a variety of biochemical pathways in different types of cells. Peroxisomes originally were defined as organelles that carry out oxidation reactions leading to the production of Hydrogen Peroxide. Because Hydrogen Peroxide is harmful to the cell, Peroxisomes also contain the enzyme Catalase, which decomposes Hydrogen Peroxide either by converting it to water or by using it to oxidize another organic compound. A variety of substrates are broken down by such oxidative reactions in Peroxisomes, including uric acid, amino acids, and fatty acids. The oxidation of fatty acids is a particularly important example, since it provides a major source of metabolic energy.

Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH)

Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) is your body’s most abundant natural antioxidant. It stands head-and-shoulders above all of the others. It is the body’s “Master Antioxidant!”

Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) is fundamental to a wide range of metabolic and regulatory functions throughout the body. Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) protects the skin, your vision, the lens of the eyes and the retina from radiation from the sun, boosts your body system, helps turn carbohydrates into energy, and prevents the buildup of oxidized fats that contribute to atherosclerosis and its associated risk factors: diabetes; high blood pressure; high blood cholesterol; high fat diet; obesity; heart disease and increasing age. It is the best detoxifier the body has in its arsenal.

Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) is a tripeptide created in the body from the amino acids glutamine, cysteine and glycine. It is not only the body’s most important antioxidant but it is known to be one of the best detoxifiers in the body. Healthy levels of GSH) strengthen the body against heavy metal toxins and Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) is used to treat lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium poisoning.

Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) helps keep red and white blood cells healthy to maximize the disease-fighting power of the body’s system. GSH also appears to have an anti-aging effect on the body.

In today’s world it is very easy to become depleted in Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH).

Exposure to sunlight, environmental toxins and pollutants, household chemicals, pharmaceutical drug use, recreational drug use, heavy metals, surgery, inflammation, burns, viral or bacterial infections, and intense physical exercise can all diminish the body’s Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) reserves. Illness, chronic disorders such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis, injury, or heavy exposure to pollutants also causes a GSH deficiency. This is because your body uses more GSH when it is supporting white blood cells and ridding the body of toxins. GSH levels decline with age and a lack of Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) has been shown to leave the body more vulnerable to damage by free radicals, thus speeding up oxidation and ageing of the body.

A Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) deficiency can have a devastating effect on the nervous system, causing such symptoms as lack of balance and coordination, mental disorders, and tremors. Deficiency in Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) has been linked to a number of diseases including anemia, neuropathy, HIV/AIDS, cirrhosis, hepatitis, COPD, asthma, Crohn’s Disease, gastritis, duodenal ulcer, pancreatitis, heart attack, coronary artery disease, stroke, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, cystic fibrosis, cancer, seizure disorders and autism.

In fact, autism researchers have found that 100% of the kids studied had “unusually low concentration of the antioxidant Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) in their cells” while none of the healthy kids showed this problem.

This pattern is consistent with an inability to detoxify poisons, especially heavy metals, such as mercury or lead. That’s because Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) normally binds to heavy metals and the body then targets the molecular complex for elimination.

Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) is a very hot topic in the Autistic community and there is a strong belief that increasing GSH on a cellular level can be very beneficial to Autistic children.

Summary

Catalase, SOD and Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH) Peroxidase are crucial to good human health and also have the potential to increase the human lifespan. These amazing enzymes are crucial in protecting our cells from the world we live in and even in protecting us from many of our bad habits

As we age our cells’ production of these amazing enzymes goes down, caused by our diets and lifestyles – seemed to be inevitable in the past

The exciting news is that we CAN increase the cells’ own production and utilization of these three super-antioxidant enzymes by maintaining a proper pH in our bodies with the help of lipH

And, the benefits don’t stop here! lipH is must to have when battling cell mutation in any stage!

Apoptosis

The cells of a multicellular organism are members of a highly organized community. The number of cells in this community is tightly regulated—not simply by controlling the rate of cell division, but also by controlling the rate of cell death. If cells are no longer needed, they commit suicide by activating an intracellular death program. This process is therefore called programmed cell death, although it is more commonly called apoptosis (from a Greek word meaning “falling off,” as leaves from a tree). The amount of apoptosis that occurs in developing and adult animal tissues can be astonishing. In the developing vertebrate nervous system, for example, up to half or more of the nerve cells normally die soon after they are formed. In a healthy adult human, billions of cells die in the bone marrow and intestine every hour. It seems remarkably wasteful for so many cells to die, especially as the vast majority are perfectly healthy at the time they kill themselves. What purposes does this massive cell death serve?

In many cases, cell death helps regulate cell numbers. In the developing nervous system, for example, cell death adjusts the number of nerve cells to match the number of target cells that require innervation. In all these cases, the cells die by apoptosis. In adult tissues, cell death exactly balances cell division. If this were not so, the tissue would grow or shrink.

If part of the liver is removed in an adult rat, for example, liver cell proliferation increases to make up the loss. Conversely, if a rat is treated with the drug phenobarbital—which stimulates liver cell division (and thereby liver enlargement)—and then the phenobarbital treatment is stopped, apoptosis in the liver greatly increases until the liver has returned to its original size, usually within a week or so. Thus, the liver is kept at a constant size through the regulation of both the cell death rate and the cell birth rate.

Cells that die as a result of acute injury typically swell and burst. They spill their contents all over their neighbors—a process called cell necrosis—causing a potentially damaging inflammatory response. By contrast, a cell that undergoes apoptosis dies neatly, without damaging its neighbors. The cell shrinks and condenses. The cytoskeleton collapses, the nuclear envelope disassembles, and the nuclear DNA breaks up into fragments. Most importantly, the cell surface is altered, displaying properties that cause the dying cell to be rapidly phagocytized, either by a neighboring cell or by a macrophage, before any leakage of its contents occurs. This not only avoids the damaging consequences of cell necrosis but also allows the organic components of the dead cell to be recycled by the cell that ingests it.

In multicellular organisms, cells that are no longer needed or are a threat to the organism are destroyed by a tightly regulated cell suicide process known as programmed cell death, or apoptosis.

Apoptosis plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining health by eliminating old cells, unnecessary cells, and unhealthy cells. The human body replaces perhaps a million cells a second.

Too little or too much apoptosis plays a role in a great many diseases. When programmed cell death does not work right, cells that are malignant or unhealthy and that should die off and be replaced by healthy ones don’t and continue to grow, such as cancer and leukemia cells.

When apoptosis works too well, it begins killing healthy cells and inflicting tissue damage, which can cause strokes, and neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer, Huntington, and Parkinson diseases.  We believe returning normal cell function and normal apoptosis function to these cells could play a major role in stopping these diseases.

In-vitro tests results show LIPH induces apoptosis on colon cells.

Drinking alkaline water will help to improve our body’s immune system.

Liph is a natural antioxidant that balances body pH. Proper body pH is a factor in strengthening our immune system, that aids in the reduction of abnormal cells.

All the substances that break down food in the digestive tract are water-base. Acid reflux is thought to be caused by the production of too much stomach acid.

However, too little stomach acid due to chronic dehydration is often the real cause. When the stomach doesn’t have enough acid for digestion, food stays in your stomach too long and gets pushed back up, along with some acid.

Colitis pain is a signal of water shortage in the large intestine. It is associated with constipation because the large intestine extracts the last drop of water from the contents – thus the lack of water lubrication.

Drinking Liph Alkaline water every day will help to minimize constipation

Alkaline water will help improve bone structure. Proper body pH minimizes the body’s need to rob calcium from our bones, which can lead to osteoporosis. Drinking sufficient Alkaline water “Liph” during the day will help minimize the discomfort of body pains caused by arthritis and rheumatism, both of which have been linked to dehydration.

Drinking Alkaline water will minimize dehydration, considerably reduce glucose levels in your blood, and in early stages reduce the development of diabetes.

Depression, chronic fatigue, muscle pains, and many other conditions are signs of long term body dehydration.

It is extremely important for all of us to drink Liph Alkaline water to maintain a Healthy way of living

Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of Alkaline water, per day, will improve the elasticity of our arteries and veins and the flow of blood, thereby minimizing the risk of heart attacks.
Studies show drinking alkaline water “Liph” will help minimize the level of Cholesterol and Triglycerides.
85% of our brain is water. A decrease in brain hydration can impair the ability to transmit electronic signals through our body.

It is very important to drink Alkaline water to maintain brain function at its maximum efficiency.

Some migraines may be caused by a lack of water needed by our brain and eyes. Alkaline water will help your body maintain a healthy hydration. A 2% reduction of water in our body can cause temporary loss of memory and difficulty reading
It only takes seconds to convert regular drinking water into an Alkaline Water. Just adding a few drops of  liph, will help your entire family maintain a proper pH in the body to stay healthy!
